Service Project Manager

General Overview 

 The service project manager is responsible for successfully managing multiple small projects with a team of electricians and proving excellent customer service for both contract projects and emergency time and material jobs.  The perfect fit for this position would be a hungry, humble, and smart self-starter who is looking for an opportunity to gain more skills and showcase their current experience through a variety of small projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support company goals, growth, and development and represent the Carlton Core every day.  

  • Support the field! Run interference between foreman/service technician and client. Allow the foreman/service technician to build. 

  • Work closely with the service operations team and designated technicians on a day-to-day basis. 

  • Manage one time service calls and projects up to $250,000.00 with accuracy, efficiency, drive, and enthusiasm. 

  • Review customer contracts and service agreements and have a thorough understanding of scope and responsibility for the project. 

  • Take service requests via telephone and email, schedule the calls with both the customer and service electricians in a timely fashion. 

  • Procure materials needed for service projects and service vans. 

  • Assist service coordinator with service van maintenance. 

  • Assist service coordinator with service invoices and collections. 

  • Meet with customers to accurately estimate and provide pricing for service projects. 

  • Assist service technicians with virtual troubleshooting via phone call, email, and text message.  

  • Project cost-to-complete each month accurately and with actual data for service projects. 

  • At minimum, attend monthly job-walks with each of your foremen/service technicians to: 

  • Review percentage complete 

  • Track scheduling 

  • Project hours 

  • Project material requirements 

  • Facilitate and schedule project turnover and project closeout meetings. 

  • Attend project completion meetings with construction department to introduce Carlton Electric’s service department to new owners.  

  • Create initial budgets, which will be input into PM software and used for tracking actual data against budget. 

  • Perform and negotiate subcontractor and vendor selection, which may include: 

  • Request and review submittals from selected subcontractors and vendors. 

  • Issue Carlton Electric standard form AIA 401 Contracts to selected subcontractors. 

  • Requesting copies of Certificates of Insurance. 

  • Issuing POs with proper coding. 

  • Create submittal logs. Track material and material delivery dates. 

  • Manage and issue up to date sets of construction documents. Verify foreman/service technicians are building off the contractual set of documents. 

  • Coordinate manpower and equipment needs with Field Operations when necessary. 

  • Accurately code or verify coding for invoicing and PO’s. 

  • Track Carlton and Vendor equipment costs (trucks, lifts, trenchers, etc.). 

  • Price change orders using Accubid Change Order with Carlton Electric standards. 

  • Negotiate pricing and schedule impacts with GC. 

  • Provide scope and updated drawings to foreman/service technician. 

  • Produce monthly billings to customer including projected cash flows from start to finish. 

  • Keep accurate records of documents and communications, including but not limited to drawings, specs, quotes, emails, etc. 

  • Strengthen and develop customer relationships with current customers and seek out and build relationships with new customers. 

  

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of project management or project engineer/assistant experience preferred but not required. 

  • 3+ years of electrical field experience required. 

  • Must know labor productivity tracking or be able to learn quickly. 

  • Must know how to create accurate cost to completes. 

  • Must understand a WIP (Work in Progress) schedule and over/under billings. 

  • Know how to use Accubid, Bluebeam, Excel, Word, and Outlook. 

  • Know how to breakdown and task projects. 

  • Must have strong leadership and teamwork skills. 

  • Know how to support the field (Our #1 priority for PMs here). 

  • Have great customer service skills and business communication skills (both in person and online). 

  • Journeyman electricians license or above preferred but not required. 

  • Must be able to pass a background check. 

  • Must be able to pass a drug test. 

  • Must have a good driving record.  

  

Reporting: The Service Project Manager reports to the President.

Compensation Package 

  • Start Date: TBD 

  • Status: Full-Time, Exempt 

  • Schedule: Normal working hours of Monday-Friday 7AM – 4:00PM. This position may offer or require overtime, weekend, or holiday work. 

  • Pay Rate: $70,000-$100,000+ depending on experience. * 

*This pay rate is the good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of this job posting. Carlton Electric reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted rate if they believe the new range is determined in good faith. Carlton Electric reserves the right to adjust compensation based on, but not limited to, approved factors such as seniority, merit, quantity and/or quality systems, location, education and/or training, and required travel.
